Why the name “Elham Candles”?

Elham is my first name.
Most Persians put a lot of thought into choosing their children’s names — not only for how they sound, but for what they mean and represent. My parents named me Elham.

Here are a few meanings I deeply connect with:

  • In Persian (الهام), Elham means “inspiration” or “divine guidance.”
    It comes from the root
ل هـ م (L-H-M), meaning “to inspire” or “to breathe into.”
  • In Sufi mysticism, it’s seen as the heart receiving subtle divine truths — a whisper from the soul.

When I was a teenager, I once asked my parents why they chose that name and even complained that there must have been a better one (I know some teens go through this 😊). I told them I wanted to change it. They simply said, “That’s okay. What name would you like instead?” At that moment, I couldn’t think of a single name — and that’s when I realized how much beauty there is in the word Elham.

My daughter gets the credit for designing my logo ♡

I hope my inspirations inspire you as well.

With love,
Elham
